I was over the moon when Tessa and Chris contacted me to photograph their wedding next year. Tessa is one of the first people I got to know when I moved to D.C., and when she suggested we meet at the gardens of Dumbarton Oaks in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. I was thrilled to explore another gem of the city. We wandered around and pretended for a little while like it was our own château, discovering the meandering parterre.
We had originally planned to do engagement photos a couple of weeks earlier than late (late!) November, but the unpredictability of autumn weather made us wait. Yet, the gardens at Dumbarton Oaks are so elegant and stately regardless of the season that I’m glad we had to wait. The colors of late autumn were just such a lovely backdrop for the pure charm of both Tessa and Chris. My heart just leapt every time they looked at each other.
